CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Back in the NCAA Tournament once again, Virginia was named a No. 4 seed in the South Region.

UVA will face No. 13 seed and SOCON champions Furman in Orlando on Thursday. They will be joined in Orlando by No. 5 seed San Diego State and No. 12 seed Charleston.

The Cavaliers are coming off a loss in the ACC Tournament championship to Duke on Saturday night after winning the ACC regular season championship. Tony Bennett's sixth regular season championship team at UVA came behind another stout defense ranked No. 9 in the country only allowing 60.1 points per game.

Virginia and Furman have only faced each other once before back in 2004, a home win for the Cavaliers. The Paladins finished the regular season 27-7 behind a high-octane scoring offense ranked No. 11 in the country averaging 82.1 points per game.

"I would have rather won it than not won it but there is certainly lessons," said UVA head coach Tony Bennett, "We played hard in that game last night and Duke just out played us in that game so you want to realize you got to be sharp you can't take anything for granted. We played good ball the first two games of the tournament and then not maybe not putting our best performance out there in the championship game. Also just one of those situations it makes you want to get back to playing how we were and try to advance"

After missing the NCAA Tournament last season for the first time since 2013, Virginia is back looking for their first tournament win since the 2019 NCAA Championship.
