CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS)-- A big second quarter performance lifted the Cavaliers over no. 11 Notre Dame 16-13.

After going down early in the first Jaime Biskup and Mackenzie Hoeg score three back to back goals to tie the game at 3-3. The Cavaliers came out swinging in the second quarter though as they went on to score eight goals.  Three-straight goals by Shaw, McGovern and Clark opened play and gave the 'Hoos the 6-3 advantage. Notre Dame’s only goal came at the 7:39 mark in the second to cut it to 6-4. UVA outscored the Irish 8-1 in the second quarter and finished on a 5-0 run to make it 11-4 at the half. 

Notre Dame opened the second half with 4 goals, outscoring UVA 3-1 to make it a 12-8 game. But then Clark had two-straight goals and Biskup scored her fourth to put UVA ahead 15-8 with 7:54 remaining. Biskup had the lone goal for UVA in the final seven minutes of the game as the Irish went on a 4-0 run to cut it to 16-13 with 2:03 to play.

Virginia will travel to No. 1 Syracuse on Saturday, April 1 at 6pm.
