CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Members of the Friendship Court Advisory Committee got to tour the inside of new homes being built at Friendship Court.

It’s part of the ongoing construction for phase one of the resident-led redevelopment project.

Work on this project has been going on for years, though the ground wasn’t broken on it until February 2022.

There are also other projects underway around town to help people who need affordable housing, including a renovation at Crescent Halls, redevelopment at South First Street, and more.

Charlottesville City Councilor Michael Payne says he thinks a similar resident-led redevelopment project at Westhaven should be the next major affordable housing investment the city makes.
