LURAY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- It’s Earth Day this weekend, and in celebration of it, every national park is waiving entrance fees.

That includes the closest national park to Central Virginia, the Shenandoah National Park.

The park offers various hiking trails, such as the popular Old Rag.

A pilot program has been limiting the number of people who use Old Rag on a daily basis in order to improve the hiker experience, preserve habitat and natural resources, and ease congestion on the trail.
