ACPS seeking applicants to fill vacancies on committees

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Albemarle County School Board is looking for people to serve on one of the most influential advisory groups for education in the county.
According to a release, applications are now being accepted from people who are interested in serving on the Long-Range Planning Advisory Committee.
At this time, there are vacancies for representatives of the Rio and Rivanna magisterial districts as well as an at-large representative.
Applicants need to live within the magisterial district they wish to represent. For the at-large representative, the person must simply be a county resident.
This board plays a major role, impacting the quality of public education in Albemarle County.
The release says its responsibilities include developing capital improvement program recommendations for the superintendent and the school board.
Members also look at school program capacity, enrollment and projections, transportation and operating efficiencies, creative financing and construction strategies, and requirements for innovative learning environments that accommodate contemporary instruction models and associated technology investments.
Applicants should be interested in school facilities and capital improvement planning; demographics and economics; elementary, middle and high school programs and needs; public outreach and communication; and/or municipal design and construction.

There are also vacancies on the School Health Advisory Board, which makes recommendations on policies and programs to promote student health, guidance on health issues, and suggests improvements to school environments and existing health services.
People who live in the Samuel Miller and Scottsville magisterial districts are needed to fill these vacancies.
