No. 12 Virginia sweeps LIU in NCAA Tournament first round

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- No. 12 Virginia cruised through their opening round match against LIU winning 4-0 to advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Cavaliers continued their stellar form at home with the win after going 11-1 this season in Charlottesville.
After picking up the doubles point, UVA saw courts three, four and five make quick work of their matches. Sophomore Mélodie Collard did not drop a single point on court five winning 6-0, 6-0 over LIU's Elinor Storkaas. Next door on court three, freshman Annabelle Xu topped Saki Oyama in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. The match was wrapped up on court four as junior Hibah Shaikh never dropped a point to close out against Marion Deloziere 6-0, 6-0.
UVA will try to advance to the Round of 16 for the eighth time as a program when they host Princeton on Saturday, May 6 at 4 p.m. in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
