Program sets out to build young girls' confidence
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- An organization called Princess for a Day is looking to help young girls find their confidence.
It is a six-month program for girls three to 15 that is held one Saturday of each month. Participants learn self-love, etiquette, and how to be poised.
At the end of the program, the girls get dressed up and walk on a red carpet to get crowned as a princess for a day.
Coressa Williams, the executive director of Princess for a Day, says it’s more than just getting dressed up. It’s about teaching young girls how to be confident in their own skin.
“There are so many stereotypes in our world today. So many things that our girls are facing. To have a program that allows them to internalize their self beauty, their self-worth. We believe that will transition them to all aspects of their life,” she said.
It costs $325 to be a part of the six-month program. Meetings are held at the Courtyard Marriott on Hillsdale Drive in Charlottesville.
