CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- The cheers came early for Virginia men's lacrosse at their Premier Lacrosse League Draft watch party with Thomas McConvey the first of a trio of Cavaliers selected.

McConvey came off the board with the final pick of the first round at No. 8 overall to the Waterdogs. UVA remains the lone school with a first round pick in each PLL Draft since the league started in 2019 and also has the most first round picks of any program with six.

Virginia did not have to wait long to see another couple players come off the board with attackman Xander Dickson selected in the second round at No. 11 overall by Atlas and faceoff specialist Petey LaSalla going a few picks later at No. 15 with the Whipsnakes.

Each player will join another former Cavalier with their new PLL team. McConvey will team up with former UVA midfielder Ryan Conrad on the Waterdogs, Dickson will play with former teammate Dox Aitken on Atlas and LaSalla will see former Virginia attackman Zed Williams in the Whipsnakes locker room.

McConvey was also the No. 1 overall pick in the NLL Draft by the Rochester Knighthawks and becomes the eighth Virginia player drafted in the first round of either the PLL or MLL since 2019.
