RICHMOND, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Two people from Winchester have been indicted for defrauding the unemployment compensation program.

Attorney General Jason Miyares announced the indictments Thursday.

According to a release, Luke George has been charges with one count of felony conspiracy to obtain money by false pretenses.

And Ajarhi Roberts is facing one count of felony obtaining money by false pretenses and one count of felony conspiracy to obtain money by false pretenses.

“I’m proud of the work put in by my Unemployment Compensation Fraud Unit, the Virginia State Police, and our federal partners to ensure that unemployment compensation fraud allegations are thoroughly investigated, and that those who attempt to take advantage of Virginians are held accountable for their wrong and illegal actions,” said Miyares.

The Virginia State Police investigated this case alongside the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Inspector General and the U.S. Post Office of Inspector General.
