AHIP and BRHBA partner up to host a fundraising golf tournament
CROZET, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Blue Ridge Home Builders Association teamed up with AHIP to host a fundraising golf tournament Friday at Old Trail Golf Club in Crozet.
Some of the proceeds from this tournament will be going to Albemarle Housing Improvement Plan, or AHIP, to help provide the necessary repairs to the homes of those who may not be able to afford them.
AHIP also supplies aid to individuals who are disabled or elderly. According to the organization’s development manager, it receives about five to 10 calls on a daily basis from clients around the community. The organization also says its program enables affordable housing and works with clients who are 80 percent or below the area median income.
"A lot of the people we work with, those expenses can be such a wall to their everyday routine that something like mold growing in the bathroom or something like that, even if it’s a pressing issue, it becomes one of those sorts of issues that they feel like they can't do anything about," said Kyle Ramey with AHIP.
By performing repairs, AHIP helps people remain in their homes and not be forced to move out because the property becomes untenable.
According to the organization, some repairs include the restoration of ramps for the elderly or disabled, HVAC unit replacements, and more.
