ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Oakencroft Farm and Vineyard is back up and running, with lots of features that make it not only an enjoyable experience, but benefit the environment as well.

After the property shut down in 2008, the new owners wanted to pay homage to the beauty of the original farm and wanted to do something called regenerative agriculture.

So, by using renewable energy, they are able to create a home for all wildlife and transition Virginia wine-making into the next century while producing more sustainable wine.

“So, we're bringing in wines from all over the world, and in the region, who are doing things just more earth-friendly, less spraying, and more sustainably made and healthier,” said Dorothy Batten, the owner of Oakencroft Farm and Winery.

Along with all the great things Oakencroft does for the environment, it has a tasting room with fresh wine, delicious food, and a beautiful space for everyone to enjoy.

Oakencroft Farm is now open Thursday through Saturday and is ready to have you enjoy some wine, while making a difference in the environment.
