LURAY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A body was found over the weekend in Shenandoah National Park.

Based on a preliminary identification, officials believe the body is that of Mateo Cobo Zevallos.

The search for him was suspended around 12:15 p.m. Sunday and the body was taken to the office of the Medical Examiner in Manassas for positive identification and to determine a cause of death.

Zevallos was reported missing in Fairfax County on May 6 after having last been seen leaving his home in Oakton the day before when he left for George Mason University.

SNP rangers began searching his vehicle on May 16, based on information that was received that day.

The car was found in the northern part of the park in a parking lot serving Overall Run Falls Trail.

Officials say the remains were found about 1.6 miles from where the car was parked in steep terrain near several rock outcrops.

Trails in the area that were closed for the search have now reopened.
