CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Multiple Charlottesville-area organizations are looking for volunteers to help with an annual event for Memorial Day.

For the sixth year, DoGoodCville, Gratitude Cville and the Charlottesville Fire Department will be cleaning the tombstones of military servicemembers.

On Saturday, volunteers will gather at Maplewood Cemetery at 8 a.m.

“Maplewood is in need of a lot of love, so make sure to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty,” said DoGoodCville co-chair Kerry Rock. “This will be the first year that we tackle two cemeteries on the same day, so we could use everyone’s help.”

Following a lunch break at 12 p.m., they will then head over to Oakwood Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. to clean more markets and place more than 600 American flags.

Volunteers of all ages are welcome to participate in this event.

Buckets, water and scrubbers will be provided.
