UVA on race-based college admissions
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- University of Virginia President Jim Ryan and Provost Ian Baucom issued a statement saying that they will continue to have a diverse school, even if the U.S. Supreme Court tries to eliminate race as a factor in college admissions.
"We will continue to do everything within our legal authority to recruit a student body that is both extraordinarily talented, and richly diverse across every imaginable dimension, including race," the statement said.
They believe that every UVA student belongs on Grounds, regardless of what they look like.
This statement is in conjunction with what UVA said back in October 2022.
There are two cases that the Supreme Court is looking at that would limit "race-based" college admissions.
The high court is expected to have a decision in June.
