North Carolina man indicted for shooting on Downtown Mall
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A man from North Carolina has been indicted on multiple charges, including murder, for a shooting that occurred on the Downtown Mall.
According to a release, 33-year-old Marcel Darell Washington of Charlotte, North Carolina has been indicted by a grand jury on one count of second-degree murder and two counts of malicious wounding.
The incident occurred on Oct. 23, 2022 outside Lucky Blue’s, with shots initially being fired inside the bar and then more shots fired outside.
Three people suffered gunshot wounds, two of them female bystanders who had non-life-threatening injuries, and taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center for treatment.
One victim, later identified as Davonn J. Wilson, later died of his injuries.
Washington was arrested days later in Tennessee.
He is being held at the Albemarle-Charlottesville Regional Jail.
