CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A Charlottesville resident is now facing a first-degree murder charge for a homicide that occurred on Grove Street.

According to a release, 38-year-old Tadashi Demetrius Keyes was indicted Thursday on first-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

These charges stem from the Jan. 28 shooting death of Eldridge Vandrew Smith.

Keyes was initially charged with second-degree murder, but that has now been upgraded.

He is being held at the Albemarle-Charlotteseville Regional Jail.
