AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Virginia State Police is asking for help to identify a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run that killed a pedestrian.

According to police, the crash occurred around 9:50 p.m. Wednesday on Parkersburg Turnpike in Augusta County. This was at the intersection with Pine Tree Lane.

Police say a 42-year-old man was hit by a vehicle that was heading east on Parkersburg Turnpike.

That vehicle that hit the pedestrian then drove off.

It is believed the vehicle involved in a maroon or red truck or SUV that will have damage to its right front headlight and/or right front turn signal.

The pedestrian, who has not yet been identified, died at the scene.
