CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- Behind a standout performance on the mound from starter Connelly Early, Virginia clinched a spot in the Super Regional with an 8-3 win over East Carolina.

The Cavaliers make their eighth NCAA Super Regional appearance in program history, all coming under Brian O'Connor, and will host their first Super Regional at Disharoon Park since 2015.

Early continued the standout weekend for UVA starting pitchers on his way to earning Charlottesville Regional Most Outstanding Player honors. The Army transfer pitched 6.1 innings with 10 strikeouts, tying a season-high.

Virginia received some timely hitting as well after falling behind 2-1 in the fourth. Ethan O'Donnell broke out of a slump to deliver the biggest hit of the weekend with a three-run homer to put UVA up 4-2 in the seventh.

On a weekend where few balls left The Dish, Anthony Stephan added to the home run total in the eighth with a three-run home run that was ruled inside the park. ACC Player of the Year Kyle Teel finished off the night with a solo shot in the ninth inning.

No. 7 Virginia will now host the Conway Regional winner between Duke and No. 10 Coastal Carolina, who play on Monday.
