Delaney Tharp joined CBS19 News in June 2023 after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology from Virginia Tech and is the weekend meteorologist and multimedia journalist. 

Her love of the weather goes back to a very young age. Born in Birmingham, Alabama her family tells her she would run to the television as young as three years old to watch meteorologist James Spann give the weather report. 

During her time at Virginia Tech, Delaney was a weathercaster at the University’s radio station. She was also a founding member of the Virginia Tech Forecasting Club, which gives students hands-on, operational forecasting experience.  

Delaney was raised in Charlottesville, interned with CBS19 in the summer of 2022 and could not be more excited to be back in the studio!  

In her free time, she enjoys watching Alabama and Virginia Tech football, spending time with family, and anything that involves music, the beach, or hiking!
