CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A local Pride festival will be taking place at the IX Art Park in September.

The Charlottesville Pride Network announced on Wednesday that its marquee 2023 festival and street fair will take place Sept. 17.

The event will include live performances, resource booths, local vendors and more, with details being released as they become available.

“We are thrilled to celebrate Pride at Ix Art Park this year and bring together the LGBTQ community in Charlottesville and Central Virginia for a day of celebration and community,” said Nick Morrow, acting president of Charlottesville Pride. “Since our first Pride celebration in Charlottesville 11 years ago, the LGBTQ community has made important progress: marriage equality at the national level; the Virginia Values Act – a landmark nondiscrimination bill – passed in Richmond; the community here in Charlottesville has grown and become more vibrant and interconnected. But, more recently, we’ve also seen lawmakers attempt to roll back our rights and extremists boycott companies who support our community. As we celebrate Pride this month, it’s important that we rededicate ourselves to its foundational premise: to loudly, proudly and unabashedly be ourselves. Pride is an opportunity to celebrate our progress and rededicate our efforts in fighting for our collective future. We’re so excited to continue building a stronger and more inclusive community together.”
