Delegates from sister city Winneba, Ghana, arrive
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19NEWS) -- A delegation from Winneba, Ghana, Charlottesville’s sister city, arrived Monday and will be here through Aug. 2.
This will be the first time this delegation has traveled to the United States. The trip will include tours of The University of Virginia, Thomas Jefferson's Monticello and a visit to Washington, D.C.
“We’ve got the mayor who is going to be here and three of his top officials. I know they are really thrilled to be here and to see Charlottesville. They have been hearing all about Charlottesville for years, and now they finally have the chance to come,” Executive Director of the Charlottesville Winneba Foundation Dave Norris said.
The delegation will also be publicly recognized during the African American Cultural Arts Festival’s opening processional Saturday at 10:30 a.m.
