Investigation underway into Lake Anna drowning
LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a drowning that occurred over the weekend on Lake Anna.
According to a release, emergency crews responded to the Lake Anna Yacht Club around 9:20 p.m. Saturday for a reported drowning.
While those crews were on the way, deputies learned that 64-year-old Guadalupe Lopez Reyes had been missing for more than an hour.
The club’s management also advised officials that while checking video footage, they determined the man had fallen into the water and not come back to the surface.
Divers from the Virginia Department of Wildlife Resources and the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office helped to find and recover Lopez Reyes’ body, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office reports no foul play is suspected in this case.
