LOUISA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A Louisa resident was killed in a crash that occurred Thursday afternoon on James Madison Highway.

According to the Virginia State Police, the crash occurred around 3:10 p.m. more than 1.5 miles south of the intersection with Jack Jouett Road.

A 2018 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by 32-year-old Samantha Chisholm of Louisa, lost control on a wet road and hit a 2006 Chevrolet work van that was heading in the opposite direction.

Chisholm died at the scene of the crash. Two juveniles who were in the Traverse were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the work van, a 34-year-old man, and his passenger, a 31-year-old man from Charlottesville, suffered minor injuries but were not taken to the hospital.

All five people were wearing seat belts.

The crash is still under investigation.

James Madison Highway was shut down for a few hours due to this crash.
