CINCINNATI Oh. (CBS19 SPORTS)-- Brian Edgington's long winding road in baseball continues, the next stop is in Cincinnati. The UVA right-handed pitcher has signed a free-agent deal with the Cincinnati Reds.

Prior to the 2023 season with the Cavaliers, Edgington made stops at Elon University, Mercer County Community College, and Saint Joseph's University. In his final season with the phoenix Edgington threw 86 strikeouts, the second most in the CAA, while his 3.56 ERA ranked ninth in the league.

Once at Virginia Edgington continued to dominate, becoming the Saturday starter for the Cavaliers. In his role, the righty struck out 94 batters over 88.1 innings pitched and earned a 3.57 ERA. Among one of his greatest feats as a Cavalier, Edgington threw a complete game against Duke in the Charlottesville Super Regional, striking out a season high 11 batters to send UVA back to Omaha.

Edgington will be reunited with UVA teammate Ethan O'Donnell as well as former Cavalier Andrew Abbott in Cincinnati. The righty is now the 6th Cavalier from the 2023 club to move on to the MLB.
