Community mourning after siblings drown in James River

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Community members in Charlottesville are gathering Sunday afternoon to remember three young people.
The Islamic Society of Central Virginia will be hosting a ceremony for 19-year-old Omar Wade, 16-year-old Marieme Imane and 10-year-old Aicha Amira beginning at 2 p.m.
The siblings were in Rockbridge County on a camping trip when they went missing in the James River.
The Rockbridge County Sheriff’s office says it received a call around 7:45 p.m. Friday for three missing swimmers in the Arnold’s Valley area.
Multiple agencies searched through the night, including the Virginia State Police Search and Rescue Team, the Virginia Conservation Police, the Rockbridge County Department of Fire-Rescue, the Rockbridge Baths Fire Department, and the Natural Bridge Fire Department among others.
Around 9:45 a.m. Saturday, crews recovered the bodies of the three from the water a short distance from where they had last been seen.
The investigation into what happened is ongoing.
A fundraiser has been set up to help support the family.
