Seven Albemarle schools offering free breakfast and lunch
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Seven Albemarle County schools are offering free breakfast and lunch this year.
Those schools are Greer, Woodbrook, Agnor-Hurt, Red Hill, Scottsville and Mountain View elementary schools and Journey Middle School.
Les Sinclair with the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank said proper nourishment for kids is vital to their development, learning and emotional health.
"They're really good about eliminating the stigma about food security for many of these kids, that they don't have any control over, right? So, this is very helpful to them,” he said.
Parents at those schools still need to fill out the free or reduced lunch application.
Free and reduced lunch is still available at other schools when eligible families apply for it.
