Anti-Don Polonis signs are thought to be destroyed and stolen
FLUVANNA COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The signs popping up around Lake Monticello urging people to vote Don Polonis off the owner's association board after he posted an anti-LGBTQ+ image online are disappearing or being vandalized, according to one resident.
On Sunday, Alyssa Sellick says she noticed her sign had been punctured by rocks. She says her mailbox was also hit, leaving dents on one side.
Sellick says a house a few doors down had the same thing happened to theirs.
She says signs are also being stolen.
"Somebody who obviously disagrees with what we are supporting felt like they were able to destroy someone else's property. It concerns me that we live in a place where someone felt free to do something like that," she says.
Sellick says she filed a police report. She says police are encouraging people who've had a sign stolen or damage to reach out to them.
