Jones waives preliminary hearing in UVA shooting case

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The man accused of murdering three University of Virginia football players was in court Monday.
Christopher Darnell Jones, Jr. faces multiple charges connected with the shooting that shocked the country last November.
On Monday, Jones waived his right to a preliminary hearing on all 10 of the charges against him.
He is accused of shooting and killing Devin Chandler, D’Sean Perry, and Lavel Davis, Jr.
Mike Hollins and Marlee Morgan were injured in the incident and have since recovered from their physical injuries.
All of the UVA students were on a bus returning from a field trip to Washington, D.C. on the night of Nov. 13, 2022.
Following the shooting, the manhunt for Jones resulted in a shelter-in-place order for the university community for most of the following day.
In October, this case is expected to go before a grand jury and indictments are anticipated.
