Madison resident killed in Rockingham County crash
ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A Madison resident was killed in a crash involving a pedestrian in Rockingham County.
According to the Virginia State Police, the crash occurred around 9 p.m. Wednesday on North Valley Pike just north of the intersection with Smithland Road.
Police say a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta was heading north on North Valley Pike when a pedestrian ran into the road.
The Jetta could not avoid the pedestrian, who was wearing dark-colored clothing and was not in a crosswalk.
The Jetta remained at the scene of the accident.
Police have identified the pedestrian as 41-year-old Amanda D. Tyler of Madison. She died at the scene.
The driver of the Jetta, a 19-year-old woman from Rockingham County, was not hurt.
The crash is under investigation.
