CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- One of Charlottesville’s recreation centers will be closing for a major project.

The Charlottesville Department of Parks and Recreation says Herman Key, Jr. Recreation Center will close to the public on Sept. 29 for roof replacement.

Services at the center will be unavailable through Jan. 3, and the center is expected to reopen on Jan. 4.

The Key Recreation Center will still be open for the general election on Nov. 7.

Open gym basketball and pickleball will be held at Carver Recreation Center in the Jefferson School City Center.
