CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Charlottesville Pride Festival was held Sunday at IX Art Park. The event hosted more than 50 vendors, along with multiple performers and speakers.

Rain or shine, the community came out to celebrate Pride and shopped at local business vendors. The acting President of C'ville Pride, Nick Morrow, says that this year has had the most anti-LGBTQ bills introduced in the Virginia General Assembly, so it is important for the community to lean on each other and build strength as one.

“I think it’s a time where people are leaning on each other and trying to come together, and also celebrate what we are able to have in this community.  Regardless of what happens at the federal level or at the state level, it’s really heartening to come here and see the whole community supports them in this way,” Morrow said.

Though the Pride Festival is the main event for C’ville Pride, Morrow said they hope to host an event closer to the holidays. For more information, you can visit cvillepride.org.
