CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Football season is back, which means people all over the country are watching NFL teams closely and following their fantasy football players. Kerry Rock, Founder of Do Good C’ville, brings a twist to the average fantasy football league.
“This is our inaugural Do Good C’ville Charity Fantasy Football league. We have 12 teams playing for $5,000 for a charity of their choice. Some are local to Charlottesville, like Arc of the Piedmont, Waterboys and some like St. Jude’s are also being played for in our league,” Rock said.
Rock works with sponsors to grow the prize fund throughout the season while all gathering over something they love, football. Local group the Buffalo Bills Backers doubles the original prize fund of $1,200 in support of the league.
“Every year we have a new charity we raise money for. This year, we a reraising money to match the winning donation of the Do Good C’ville Fantasy Football League charity,” Patrick Webb, President of the Charlottesville Buffalo Bills Backers, said.
With the growing prize fund, participants can have the competitive aspect of fantasy football leagues, while giving back to the community.
