CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A Gordonsville man was arrested early Friday morning on multiple charges after a vehicle chase that started in Augusta County and ended in Albemarle County.

According to a release from the Augusta County Sheriff's Office, Adam Ryan Martin, 38, was arrested for obstruction of justice, assault and battery on a law enforcement officer and eluding. There had already been a bench warrant out for his arrest on fentanyl charges.

A female passenger was detained.

Martin refused to stop for an Augusta County deputy who had noticed that his black Infiniti had been involved with multiple police chases in the past several weeks. He attempted to flee by driving into Albemarle County. The chase ended when Martin lost control and crashed into an embankment at the intersection of Dudley Mountain Road and Red Hill Road. He was apprehended after a foot chase.

Martin was transported to UVA Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
