Ramblin' Rabbit Run happening this weekend
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Blue Ridge Mountains Rotary Club is hosting its annual Ramblin’ Rabbit Run and Walk to raise money and awareness for local nonprofits.
This year, proceeds from the run will go to the development of Bennett's Village.
Bennett’s Village is working to build an all-inclusive play space, in memory of Bennett McClurken-Gibney.
Bennett was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy and would have to travel to Richmond to play with his siblings.
This run will help bring Bennett’s Village to life quicker and make Charlottesville more accessible.
“What’s special about Bennett’s Village is it makes Rotary’s mission to have a long-lasting impact on the community. To build an all-inclusive play structure at Pen Park, it’s phenomenal, the drawings, it’s really just going to match and leave a long-lasting impact for everyone,” said Jamie Yowell, a member of the Blue Ridge Rotary Club.
The race takes place Saturday at Piedmont Virginia Community College, and you can find more information here.
