MADISON COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Some residents in Madison County can expect to see some smoke over the next several days.

The Madison County Volunteer Fire Company says it responded to a woodland fire off of Quaker Run Road around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire burned about one acre of land but it is in rough terrain with access issues.

Crews were there until dark working to create a fire line around the area to prevent the fire from spreading any further.

On Wednesday, the Virginia Department of Forestry has crews on the scene to control it.

Officials say smoke will be visible for several days until the remaining fuel inside the burned area runs out.
