MADISON COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Fire crews are working a wildland fire in the area of Quaker Run Road in Madison County.

According to the Virginia Department of Forestry, the 20-acre fire started Tuesday afternoon and immediate suppression actions were taken.

However, the fire has grown to 20 acres in remote, steep and rocky terrain, which is making containment efforts difficult.

The fire is near the Shenandoah National Park, and the National Park Service has been made aware of it.

DOF and local firefighters are on the scene as well as SNP and U.S. Forest Service staff.

At this time, there are no homes or structures in danger due to the fire.

It is not contained.
