CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Planet Fitness members were stepping for a cause this weekend. With October being National Bullying Prevention month. The fitness center teamed up with the Boys and Girls Club of America to raise awareness.

Locally, seven members took over the gym and competed for the most floors climbed.

"100% of the funds go to the Boys and Girls Club to work with academic scholarships and we have seven team members who are taking over all seven stair climbers. Our members have donated per floor for a flat rate, so I think we have about $500 raised for just this today,” Regional Manager Sarah Mathis said.

The fitness center’s national fundraiser is part of Planet Fitness' philanthropic initiative, the Judgement Free Generation, which aims to prevent bullying and promote kindness among the next generation.
