ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- An area couple is offering a retro twist on winery tours.  

Husband and wife Katie and Ken Galan run Tipsy Wagen Tours, where people can experience the finest vintages Central Virginia has to offer as they ride in a 1972 Volkswagen bus.

“We always like to find those fun, unique, and different things to do in places that we visit, and we thought that this would be such a cool and fun idea to bring to the Charlottesville area,” said Katie Galan.

The bus is named Mabel.

“I mean obviously she's super fun and cute. You'll get a lot of attention riding around in her. Lots of air conditioning. We've got 11 windows that you can open up and get a good breeze. And of course then on the wine on the tours themselves, you get flight included,” said Galan.

Riders get to pick from a list of winery favorites like Keswick and Castle Hill, among others.

“You have a lot of fun. It's a safe way to kind of travel around and do the wineries and breweries in the area,” said Galan.

Tipsy Wagen Tours offers private and public tours, and each tour lasts about three and a half hours.
