Tom Sox announce 2024 schedule
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS) -- The Tom Sox announced their schedule for the 2024 summer season this afternoon. They'll kick off their season on May 31st on the road against the Staunton Braves.
The following day, the Tom Sox will play their home opener against the Culpeper Cavaliers. The team will play reigning VBL champion Harrisonburg Turks for the first time on June 4 at Veterans Memorial Park. The regular season concludes on July 23 when the Tom Sox host the Turks.
The 2024 schedule also features a new scheduling format where the team will play 40 games instead of the 44 that they played last season and an exclusive slate against intra-division opponents (Covington, Culpeper, Harrisonburg, Staunton and Waynesboro). The Tom Sox will play each team in their division eight times (four at home and four on the road).
A new playoff format is also in place for this upcoming season where a one-game wild card playoff will take place between the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds in each division followed by a three-game division championship and league championship series.
