CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Bennett's Village, a nonprofit dedicated to building a multigenerational, all-abilities play space at Pen Park, has just received a $100,000 matching grant from the Perry Foundation.

According to a release, the Perry Foundation has a reputation for investing in community projects that have lasting community impact.

When this match is met, Bennett's Village will have raised the $500,000 needed to complete Phase One of the project, which includes an accessible treehouse and path through the woods behind the current playground.

"To say we are excited and thrilled, there's not words to express how much of an impact this will have on the project. It will allow us to start construction," said Samantha Strong, a Bennett's Village board member.

Groundbreaking for the treehouse is scheduled for next spring.
