CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Flooding the Downtown Mall with jolly spirits, roughly 400 Santas participated in the 10th Annual Santa Fun Run on Saturday to support Arc of the Piedmont.

“It’s our all-ability walk. Our mission is for inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. To be able to have them welcomed into the community and for them to be able to do the same thing you and I do,” Bryan Harris, Director of Development for Arc of the Piedmont, said.

Arc of the Piedmont works to provide resources for those who live with a vast range of developmental disabilities. And this event put another $25,000 to $30,000 toward that mission.

“We provide the resource for day support throughout the week, we also provide residential care. We have five different residential houses in the community to give them a place to go,” Harris said.

Santa Claus himself also stopped by to cheer on the hundred dressed up for the race and support the cause.

“It warms my heart. I have been a part of the community for centuries. And this in particular, The Arc of the Piedmont is just so dear to me,” Santa said.

The all-inclusive path weaved through the Downtown Mall and looped back around to Ting Pavilion to be an opportunity for people of all abilities to participate.
