NELSON COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- When you think of ‘The Nutcracker,’ you think of the tutus, ballet pointe shoes and no singing.

This holiday season, Brian Clowdus Experiences is bringing an adapted version of the ballet to Lovingston Winery called "The Nutcracker Experience" that has all the classic features, plus new elements to get people in the Christmas spirit.

“Everybody has seen ‘The Nutcracker,’ everybody knows it. But this is a new take on it. We’re in a runway-style stage, the costumes are high-fashion, and it’s not just dancing, it’s a very story-driven piece,” said Ariel Kraje, who plays Clara.

In this version of ‘The Nutcracker,’ the story goes more in-depth of what the holiday season can mean for some people.

“In this version, we’re creating a narrative that deals with loss and how you deal with that loss around the holidays. We’re focusing on the story of Clara and her father who raised her, and really giving a purpose to the dream and the ballet,” said Clowdus.

It’s not all serious tones though, this version of ‘The Nutcracker’ has aerial work, a little bit of snow magic, and a new and electrified score that the whole family will enjoy.

“If you love Nutcracker, you're going to love this production. If you sleep through Nutcracker, you're also going to love this production because it has a modern sensibility,” said Clowdus.

And you can’t go to this show without enjoying some wine from Lovingston Winery.

In fact, there’s a VIP experience where you can enjoy some of their wine and sing Christmas carols with the cast before the show.

“Nobody has experienced ‘The Nutcracker’ like this. It’s great for the families, date night, girl’s night, even bro night,” said Clowdus.

"The Nutcracker Experience" is running now through December 17th at Lovingston Winery, and you can find ticket information here
