CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Carter family Christmas display off of Bypass 250 is hard to miss this time of year.

“I just always loved to decorate. And my children were very young, and I would just start out by putting some stuff out, I don't know what it was, I just loved decorating and I am very creative. So, I was like, one of these years I am going to have this whole yard decorated,” owner Nancy Carter said.

And now more than 20 years later, the Carter family has more than 60 inflatable displays accompanied by thousands of lights.

The lights spectacular is a family affair with Carter's children dressing up and getting in on the fun.

“We enjoy doing it, that's why we get out there and wave at everyone. It is just a happy family, we do some stuff together,” Carter said.

While the house on the hill is encapsulated by the front lawn of lights, the inside of her home serves a purpose as well.

Carter works with the Department of Social Services and runs a day care out of her own home. She says she knew her whole life she wanted to work with kids.

“It’s just in me, ever since I was in school, in high school,” Carter said.

Whether it is through Christmas lights, dancing in the driveway, or caring for kids in need, Carter has one goal.

“That's what it is all about, is sharing love. We have that love and we want to share it,” Carter said.

Carter said they will be out there the next couple of nights, singing and dancing and welcome the community to come by and join in on the fun.
