CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Longtime Charlottesville sandwich lovers are getting some good news. Littlejohn's New York Delicatessen appears to be coming back.

The deli closed down amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is making its long-awaited return in the same location it started on The Corner. People remember Littlejohn's as a popular spot prior to its closing, and are excited for its return. Manager of Chaplain Services at UVA Health Kevin Adams visited the deli when he visited for his job nine years ago.

“I came for some pre-employment stuff and my future boss took me to lunch here and I had my first Charlottesville lunch here at Littlejohn's. I saw the sign as I was walking the other night, I am looking forward to it coming back,” Adams said.

No word on exactly when Littlejohn's will open its doors again, but crews have been inside making adjustments to the interior of the building to prepare for the re-opening.
