ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- People will have a chance to meet the new executive director of the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA.

The Senior Statesmen of Virginia will be hosting a meeting with Libby Jones on Jan. 10.

The meeting will include an update on the situation at the animal shelter as well as a chance to meet the new director, who took on the role this week.

Jones has experience in animal welfare, veterinary medicine, and zoology as well as various leadership positions with animal welfare organizations across the country, most recently with Seattle Humane.

She was selected following a national search for a new director after the shelter’s Board of Directors “parted ways” with the previous director Angie Gunter.

This meeting will be Jones’ first public speaking engagement.

The event will take place at Westminster-Canterbury of the Blue Ridge on Pantops Mountain Road, beginning at 1:30 p.m.
