GREENE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A man from Stanardsville wanted for a shooting that occurred last month has been arrested.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office reports 61-year-old Jeffery Dennis Simms has been captured.

He is facing charges connected with a shooting that occurred Dec. 15 on Ford Avenue.

Simms is accused of malicious wounding, maliciously shooting at an occupied vehicle, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and being a violent felon in possession of a firearm.

The victim was treated at the scene of the incident for a gunshot wound.

The sheriff's office reports Simms was arrested earlier this week in Washington, D.C. and was brought back to Greene County on Thursday.

He is being held without bond at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.

He will be in court for a first appearance on Jan. 24.
