Police chase ends in crash on 64
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- The Virginia State Police says one person is in custody following a pursuit on Interstate 64.
Police say the incident started just before 12:30 p.m. when a trooper tried to stop a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado on the 1200 block of Fifth Street.
The driver refused to stop and drove off, with police giving chase.
The Silverado then got onto westbound 64, and troopers were able to force it to stop by surrounding it.
The chase in the westbound lanes of the interstate ended near the Route 29 exit.
Police say a 39-year-old man was arrested and taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center with minor injuries.
The Virginia Department of Transportation traffic camera showed numerous law enforcement vehicles on the scene.
Both westbound lanes were closed for a time and traffic was diverted from the interstate onto nearby exits.
VSP says charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
