ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A deal between Michie Tavern and the Thomas Jefferson Foundation has apparently fallen through.

In a post on its Facebook page, the Michie Tavern the “prospective buyer” terminated the contract.

At this time, there is no word on what caused the deal to collapse.

The historic business says it will still be operated by the same team that has run it for the past 50 years.

This means there will be no changes to staff or the menu.

The Tavern Shop and the General Store are temporarily closed. They are expected to reopen this spring.
