ORANGE COUNTY, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- A former Orange County Public Schools employee is facing high-level embezzlement charges.

A grand jury returned a true bill indictment against Melissa Ann Boyd.

Boyd is a former bookkeeper for Orange County High School. OCPS confirmed that Boyd was an employee from March to September of 2023.

The 46-year-old was also the subject of a statewide missing person report in October, a month after her employment ended. OCPS didn't give any reason for why Boyd's employment ended.

The indictment says that Boyd stole at least $1,000 from OCPS between August and November of 2023.

If convicted, Boyd could spend up to 20 years in prison.

She'll appear in court on May 7.
