CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 SPORTS)-- The Cavaliers fell just short of another ACC series victory against NC State 13-5. The Wolfpack went yard three separate times and scored nine of the final 10 runs of the series.

Virginia fell behind early as Owen Coady gave up a three run homer to Brandon Butterworth over the left centerfield wall. Butterworth was 2-for-12 in the series with two home runs and five RBI. The Cavaliers mounted a two-out rally of their own in the bottom of the second inning to go up 4-3 but the lead was quickly lost as NC State put up four runs in the fourth frame.

Didawick brought the Cavaliers within two on a solo shot into the right field bullpen in the bottom half of the fourth, but it was as close as UVA would get for the rest of the afternoon. NC State scored the final six runs of the game that was capped by a Luke Nixon three-run homer in the top of the eighth inning.

Virginia will wrap up the regular season on Thursday against Virginia Tech. First pitch is slated for 6pm.
